About

CAMPUS Magazine Online (CMO) is a national online magazine produced by student-journalists at colleges and universities around the United States. Since its founding as a print magazine in 1989, CAMPUS has focused public awareness on the denial of the right of free speech to those who do not follow the academic party line on curriculum reform, classroom politicization, and declining educational standards. CAMPUS also offers snapshots into student life and culture at schools around the country, and it serves as a forum of civil discourse among a diverse array of student-journalists and the public at-large.

A project of the Collegiate Network (CN), CAMPUS Magazine Online features both original content and reprints of the best articles from the newspapers and magazines that constitute the Network. Founded in 1979, the Collegiate Network provides financial and technical assistance to student editors and writers at scores of independent publications at leading colleges and universities around the country. CAMPUS is a platform for the CN’s individual student members to reach a wider audience and to participate in a national discussion.

CMO also features the Roundtable. The Roundtable is where the Collegiate Network’s best and brightest student journalists debate timely topics, usually related to higher education. Each fortnight or so, the editors of CAMPUS pose a question to a selection of students from various CN publications. Every effort is made to assemble a diverse collection of student commentators, who then enter into a civil discussion amongst themselves, moderated by the editors of CAMPUS.
